Frequently Asked Questions

Question:

Are there any times that I cannot travel with my vehicle on a standby basis?

Answer:

A: Yes. Vehicle travel on a standby basis is generally not available on the Martha's Vineyard route during the Memorial Day Weekend, the Independence Day Holiday Week, the Labor Day Weekend, the Columbus Day Weekend, and on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays during the summer from late June through Labor Day. However, during those periods, the Authority operates a limited “Blue Line” for customers who are eligible for “preferred” reservations. When the Blue Line is in effect, the Authority accepts a maximum of 15 vehicles of such customers each day for standby travel at the Vineyard Haven and Woods Hole terminals.
